American Traveler is seeking a Neuro ICU RN with two years of Level 1 trauma and EVD experience for night shifts at a leading acute care hospital.
\n \n Responsibilities\n
Work in a 32-bed Neuro ICU within a Level 1 trauma hospitalPatient population includes those with neurological conditions such as cranial surgeries, brain tumor removals, ablations, and complicated spine surgeriesNurse-to-patient ratio is typically 1 : 2 in the ICU and 1 : 4 when floated to telemetry unitsRequired to float between all ICU and telemetry units as neededUses Phillips telemetry monitors and ventilatorsCerner is the EMR system used12-hour night shifts (7p-7a), with four weekends required per four weeksExpected to work two out of four major holidays as part of core staff rotationFloor-specific orientation includes two shifts on the unitResponsible for comprehensive neuro critical care nursing including frequent neuro assessments and ICP monitoringRequired to complete SIMs Lab for Foley catheter insertion and central line dressing changes, with a pass / fail outcomeMay be placed on standby for a scheduled shift as neededFirst to float if floating is requiredRT and pharmacy support available 24 / 7Charge nurse on unit does not take patientsDress code for Neuro ICU requires steel grey scrubsNatural hair color and no facial piercings required; men must be clean-shaven for fit testingHoliday coverage is determined by core staff rotationCandidates must have their own vehicle if part of a travel teamReturning travelers must not have worked for the health system within the past 12 months\n \n Requirements\n
Active AZ or compact RN license required at the time of considerationCurrent BLS and ACLS certifications requiredMinimum 2 years of recent ICU experience in a hospital with 450+ bedsLevel 1 trauma experience requiredExperience with EVD and ICP monitoring requiredTravel nursing experience of 3-6 months requiredMust pass a dysrhythmia (DYS) exam prior to acceptance with two attempts permittedMust pass a sterile technique skills exam on day one of orientationStrong neuro assessment skills requiredCandidates who have been directly employed by CommonSpirit, including CHI or Dignity, within the past year are not eligibleMust reside at least 50 miles from the facility as verified by driver’s license\n Benefits\n
