Position Summary The Director of Communication & Development is a member of the Management Team, responsible for leading the organization’s community engagement, public relations, and fundraising strategies. This role ensures the effective communication of the agency’s mission and services, develops strategic resource development plans, and strengthens relationships with donors, community partners, and stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities Strategic Leadership & Management : Serve as a member of the Management Team, attend management meetings, and participate on Board committees as needed. Collaborate with the Chief Strategy Officer, management, and Board to assess agency resource needs and identify funding opportunities.
Fund Development & Donor Relations : Lead the creation and execution of a comprehensive fundraising strategy. Design and manage individual donor campaigns and other fundraising initiatives. Develop and maintain a donor cultivation and stewardship system.
Outreach & Communications : Oversee the agency’s public relations and communication efforts to raise visibility and promote programs and services. Develop an annual communications plan and ensure brand consistency, tone, and messaging across all public platforms.
Qualifications Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
Familiarity working with computer databases and Internet.
Demonstrated initiative, creativity, and resourcefulness.
Self-starter with good organizational skills and excellent management skills.
Ability to develop and maintain good working relationships with diverse groups of people.
Enthusiasm and a high degree of professionalism and integrity.
Education and / or Experience Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Communications, or related area preferred, or equivalent in education and experience. 2 years of non-profit development experience and knowledge of early childhood education / child care preferred.
