Overview
Overview : The Nurse Practitioner (NP) provides leadership over two programs of the Community Health Care Van : the Mother and Infant Program (MIP) mobile health program and the Community Drug Checking Program (CDCC).
For the MIP : the NP provides scheduled doorstep visits via ambulance for newborns referred by their pediatricians. The NP provides pediatric well exams (infant weight checks, bilirubin checks, lactation counseling), and basic screening for the mother (blood pressure and depression), documents in EPIC, and makes all necessary referrals and care coordination. The NP schedules visits and coordinates with the ambulance.
For the CDCC : the NP oversees and operates the drug checking programs within the New Haven Syringe Services Program (SSP). The NP conducts drug testing using Fourier Transform Infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) and drug testing strips, counsels SSP clients, oversees IRB protocol compliance, coordinates with New England HIDTA and CT Drug Checking Collaborative, and coordinates with state lab. Provides basic wound care for people who inject drugs. Provides vaccinations. Conducts point of care testing as needed for research studies.
For all projects : Collects and analyzes data and participates in abstract and manuscript development. Identifies funding opportunities and assists with grant writing and submissions.
Participates in federal and non-federal research studies. May perform other duties as assigned.

Possession of a CT APRN license (or eligibility) with ANA certification, or CT PA license (or eligibility).
Prescriptive privileges in Connecticut. Wound care certification or working towards.
