SHP in Cincinnati, OH has openings for Mechanical Engineers - HVAC to design a variety of HVAC system types. The role involves preparing and reviewing construction and permit drawings and specifications; performing load and fluid dynamics calculations, energy modeling, and fluid pressure statics analyses; utilizing life-cycle cost analysis to establish energy goals; and designing duct, heating, and chilled water piping layouts. The position involves occasional site visits to local projects and to other SHP U.S. locations for meetings. Telecommuting is permitted once a week.

At a minimum, the position requires a Master's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field and one (1) year of experience in energy engineering and HVAC design. Alternatively, a Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a closely related field with two (2) additional years of the stated experience is accepted.

Responsibilities

• Design and optimize HVAC systems; calculate fluid dynamics and fluid pressure statics; apply thermodynamics and heat transfer principles.
• Apply ASHRAE 90.1 and 62.1 standards to sustainability analyses.
• Utilize CAD, BIM, and Load Calc software.
• Prepare and review construction and permit drawings and specifications.
• Conduct energy modeling and life-cycle cost analyses to establish energy goals.
• Design duct, heating, and chilled water piping layouts.
• Perform occasional site visits to local projects and SHP locations for meetings.
• Work in a telecommuting environment up to one day per week.
