Kernel & Container Engineer
We're seeking a versatile Kernel & Container Engineer to join our team and help architect the foundation of our edge computing platform. This role uniquely combines low-level kernel development with modern container orchestration, requiring someone who is equally comfortable debugging kernel modules and designing sophisticated containerized systems.
What You'll Do
- Design and optimize kernel-level components for Intel, AMD, and ARM processor architectures
- Build and enhance container images optimized for resource-constrained edge devices
- Create robust CI / CD pipelines using GitHub Actions for automated testing and deployment
- Work with embedded container operating systems, particularly Amazon Bottlerocket
- Architect serverless solutions leveraging AWS Lambda, S3, and other cloud-native services
- Containerize applications and modernize existing container images for improved performance and security
- Maintain and optimize container repositories for multi-architecture deployments
Required Qualifications
Strong experience with Linux kernel engineering and internalsDeep understanding of Docker and Linux container internals (namespaces, cgroups, overlay filesystems)Understanding of container communication patterns including container-to-container, container-to-OS, and container-to-hardware interactionsProficiency with GitHub, GitHub Actions, and version control workflowsHands-on experience building and managing CI / CD pipelinesExperience with container repositories (ECR, Docker Hub, or similar)Solid understanding of multi-architecture builds and cross-compilationStrong programming skills in C / C++ (for kernel work) and at least one modern language (Go, Python, Rust)Experience working in a fast-paced, ever-evolving, and quick-adapting early-stage startup environmentPreferred Qualifications
Experience with embedded container operating systems (Bottlerocket, Flatcar, CoreOS)Familiarity with serverless architectures and AWS services (Lambda, S3, ECR)Experience with both NoSQL (DynamoDB, MongoDB) and PostgreSQL databasesKnowledge of ARM processor architecture and embedded systemsUnderstanding of container networking, service mesh technologies, or orchestration platformsExperience with secure boot, TPM, or hardware security modulesContributions to open-source kernel or container projectsWhat Makes This Role Unique
