Summary

Our client is a well-respected, well sought after multifamily commercial construction general contractor located in San Diego, CA . They are an owner-builder GC developing some exciting projects around the city. This organization is in complete growth mode and they are in immediate need of an experienced Superintendent who can step in and hit the ground running. This individual will be responsible for day-to-day field operations to ensure that projects are completed on time and within budget. This individual will implement project plans and schedules, ensuring safety and quality control, while delegating work to field staff and subcontractors.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Oversee and manage operations in the field of multiple projects, simultaneously.
• Comprehend and administer a safety program that provides for a safe work environment that meets or exceeds Companys Annual Incident Goal, and foster a culture that expects participation at all levels
• Ensures project materials are supplied and work is completed in compliance with the Project Quality Program or equivalent
• Ensures that projects are built according to approved plans, specifications, design drawings, and applicable codes and that Companys high quality standards are maintained and achieved.
• Develops, maintains, and drives the construction schedule in conjunction with project team; ensures project milestones and completion dates are met. Schedule should be updated daily
• Works with project team to issue material and services purchase orders and confirms receipt of materials and return of equipment.
• Maintains inventory log and handles the distribution of material to Companys employees
• Supervises field employees and sub-trades, makes sure their work is planned and performed efficiently, and makes sure their time / production sheets are accurately coded
• Supervises sub-contractors to achieve all required project deliverables
• Mentors project team members in order to contribute to their development and career growth
• Leads project meetings with internal and external stakeholders to monitor and support the projects ongoing progression
• Maintains a thorough Superintendents daily log that accurately tracks site progress, events, inspections, and other relevant information
• Hold weekly Monday safety meeting and job discussion forum.
• Manage and perform weekly safety inspections.
• Prepare and distribute weekly progress reports. Reports need to be submitted by the end of day on Friday.
• Establish credibility among Owners, trade contractors, etc. by maintaining a fair and trustworthy environment
• Review details with A / E and subcontractors to ensure work is in compliance with document plan
• Review vendor drawings and submittals
• Create and / or foster a quality culture that recognizes the effect of quality on all operations, and takes steps necessary to provide a product or service that is a source of pride for our workers, and pleasing to our customers
• Authorize / approve all supervision personnel transactions (hiring, transfer, wages, etc.), in conjunction with appropriate project managers to ensure proper staffing.
• Participate in and / or lead project means and method planning, being a catalyst to drive creative thinking and innovative ideas that distinguishes a successful operation, developing and utilizing Work Plans to execute the results of the planning
• Interface with all work teams in business unit (including subcontractors) as required, to resolve problems, ensure quality, safety, scheduling and achieving schedules in support of overall project objectives.
• Mentor construction craft, supervision and engineering staff to ensure individual development and Companys standards are met.
