The Registered Nurse independently provides holistic, individualized care using the nursing process for patients routinely seen on the OB unit. Demonstrates clinical competency, sound nursing judgment, effective teaching skills, and a commitment to improving the quality of patient care. The RN performs general and unit-specific clinical skills, including assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating patient care under the supervision of the charge nurse. Responsibilities include adhering to all Standards of Nursing Practice, providing age-appropriate care to patients (antepartum, intrapartum, postpartum, nursery, and post-op GYN), managing supplies and equipment, and promoting teamwork with physicians and other hospital departments. The RN is expected to uphold hospital policies regarding confidentiality, sexual harassment, advance directives, and ADA compliance, while maintaining professionalism and supporting the mission, vision, and values of the organization.
