Cardiac Stepdown RN Job Details

Location : Reno, Nevada (Zip : 89502)

Department : Intermediate Care Unit (IMCU) – Cardiac Stepdown

End Date : January 31, 2026

Duration : 13-week contract

Shifts : 3x12 hour nights (18 : 45 – 07 : 15)

Hours per Week : 36

Estimated Weekly Salary : $1780–$1910

On-Site Position

Registered Nurse Qualifications

Active Nevada RN license (required prior to start)

Minimum 2 years of recent IMCU / Stepdown nursing experience

Medical ICU or Neuro ICU experience preferred

Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications

Clinical proficiency with vasopressors, titratable drips, arterial lines, neuro-stepdown patients, procedural sedation, thrombolytics, and trach management

Ability to pass ECG / Telemetry exam (must read and interpret rhythm strips)

Willingness to float to other units within competency level

Available to work weekends and holidays as scheduled

Cardiac Stepdown RN Responsibilities

Deliver high-quality patient care using the nursing process for adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients

Conduct comprehensive assessments, care planning, implementation, and evaluation

Manage patients with complex cardiac, neurological, and medical conditions in an IMCU setting

Administer and titrate critical drips, manage arterial lines, and provide procedural sedation

Collaborate with multidisciplinary healthcare teams to ensure patient-centered care

Educate patients and families on care plans, procedures, and post-discharge instructions

Maintain accurate documentation and comply with hospital policies and protocols

Demonstrate adaptability by floating to other units and working additional shifts as needed
