About the Role

The Network Architect will work with the Network Engineering team to evaluate and enhance infrastructure across the network lifecycle, ensuring performance, scalability, and security. Partnering with external partners, this role guides current operations and future initiatives, and will drive network re-architecture projects to shape enterprise colocations and multi-cloud environments to meet evolving needs.

Role Objectives

  • Partner with corporate leadership and external stakeholders to research, analyze, and implement enterprise-wide network architecture solutions.
  • Review existing network infrastructure and provide technical recommendations on hardware, firmware, software lifecycle, and configuration best practices.
  • Evaluate emerging technologies and provide vendor-agnostic recommendations aligned with HUB’s strategic goals.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align engineering initiatives with business needs, maximizing impact of resources.
  • Review and validate that deployments support current production needs and future-state vision.
  • Analyze network performance, support capacity planning, and recommend improvements for reliability, scalability, and efficiency.
  • Drive modernization initiatives to enhance resilience, efficiency, and scalability of the enterprise network.
  • Advance enterprise architecture maturity by contributing strategic insight and best practices.

Core Responsibilities

  • Engage with stakeholders to translate business, technical, and operational requirements into network architecture solutions.
  • Develop and enhance enterprise architecture artifacts such as service maps, application catalogs, and platform inventories.
  • Lead analysis and recommendations for upgrades, designs, and configuration changes to strengthen performance, resilience, and security.
  • Define and maintain benchmarks and metrics to track progress and guide continuous improvement.
  • Support root-cause analysis of service interruptions and recommend preventive architectural improvements.
  • Contribute to development and refinement of network tools and platforms to support monitoring, observability, and automation.
  • Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in technology or applicable experience; 7 years of experience in network architecture (WAN / LAN, routing, switching, optimization) with extensive exposure to cloud service providers.
  • 3 years of SD-WAN architecture and engineering experience with PBR, ECMP, DSCP tagging, TOS / ECN analysis and tuning.
  • 3 years of experience with AWS, Azure, and GCP network infrastructure as a service.
  • Networking (Firewall / Switching / WiFi) and Enterprise EFP experience is a bonus (BGP, OSPF, HSRP, STP, SNMP, NetFlow, NBAR, etc.).
  • Collaboration, prioritization, and adaptability skills.
  • Experience in project management, network design, and integration.
  • Desire to continuously develop skills and knowledge; ability to diagnose and resolve problems quickly and efficiently.
  • Thorough knowledge of layered network architectures and designs; consultative skills to translate customer requirements into design considerations.

    Additional Information

    Salary range (California, Colorado, Illinois, Maryland, Minnesota, New York, New Jersey, Washington) : $145,000 to $165,000, dependent on skills, experience, location, and scope. HUB International offers comprehensive benefits and total compensation packages (health / dental / vision / life / disability, FSA / HSA, 401(k), PTO, bonuses, equity, and commissions for some roles).
