Job Title
The Mobile Dental Care Assistant plays a vital role in providing exceptional dental care to patients in long-term care facilities. This position involves assisting healthcare professionals with patient care, managing clinical records, maintaining medical equipment, and ensuring a smooth patient experience.
Responsibilities
- Assist the dentist in delivering patient care in a friendly and efficient manner.
- Review, verify, and maintain accurate clinical records and patient histories using electronic medical records.
- Ensure the integrity and confidentiality of all documentation.
- Update patient odontograms after each patient interaction.
- Efficiently provide instruments and supplies to the dentist during procedures.
- Maintain the treatment area through proper cleaning, evacuation, drying, and illumination.
- Communicate daily with the branch office to optimize dental scheduling and reporting.
- Manage patient flow during facility visits, including assisting patients in wheelchairs as needed.
- Generate and balance daily production reports to provide to the dentist at the end of each visit.
- Accurately process dental charges in a timely manner.
- Care for and clean medical equipment to ensure proper functionality.
- Troubleshoot equipment issues and report them to the appropriate personnel.
- Schedule and maintain routine upkeep of dental equipment.
- Clean and organize service areas post-procedure.
- Inspect and maintain the cleanliness and appearance of the mobile dental vehicle; perform routine maintenance tasks like oil changes and bulb replacements.
- Monitor dental supplies inventory, anticipate needs, and place orders accordingly.
- Prepare and manage resources to minimize waste.
- Complete preventive maintenance on dental equipment according to manufacturer instructions.
- Assist in patient education on proper oral hygiene techniques.
- Exhibit strong multitasking abilities and exceptional customer service skills.
- Possess a solid understanding of medical and dental terminology.
- Ensure patients have a positive experience throughout their dental visit.
- Adhere to all OSHA and HIPAA guidelines to maintain safety and confidentiality.
- Effectively communicate with patients, family members, providers, and colleagues.
- Provide timely responses to patient inquiries and document interactions in the electronic medical record.
- This role requires travel often, servicing areas up to a 2.5-hour radius.
- Support and comply with the compliance program, including completing training and reporting any suspected violations.
- Maintain strict confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA and PHI guidelines.
- Adapt positively to change and perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications :
High School diploma or GED.Experience as a Medical / Dental Assistant is preferred.Must have reliable transportation, a good driving record, and car insurance.Completion of a two-step Tuberculosis (TB) Skin Test is required.Hepatitis B vaccination is preferred.Valid state radiation license or certificate is mandatory.Proficiency in computer skills and knowledge of medical terminology is required.Excellent written and verbal communication skills are essential.Able to follow directions and respond to the needs of patients and healthcare providers.Physical Demands :
This role demands a full range of body motion, including manual and finger dexterity, as well as hand-eye coordination. The role frequently requires standing, walking, pushing, and stooping. Lifting may vary based on dental needs, and the ability to push patients in wheelchairs is essential. Normal corrected vision and hearing are required, along with the capacity to work under stressful conditions or irregular hours. There may be some exposure to communicable diseases or bodily fluids.
