Performs system software upgrades including planning / scheduling, testing, and coordination. Performs workstation and server administration setup. Coordinates disk space planning and management. Maintains growth statistics, space forecasts, tape libraries, and software and hardware inventories. Performs data backups and recoveries. Monitors and maintain continuity with system software licensing and maintenance agreements. Provides recommendations regarding hardware and system software planning and budgeting. Maintains production change control schedule and participates in change control.Job Description# Major Job Functions The following is a summary of the major essential functions of this job. In addition, specific functions may change from time to time : Determines the setup of system users Installation and maintenance of software programs and layered products Assist in backups, disk and printer management, e-mail administration. Responsible for monitoring, detecting, and isolating incidents and the management of various organization's security products, end-user devices, and systems
- Pursue the avenues necessary to maintain the technological expertise and knowledge base to remain current with the latest available technologies, services, and products for hardware, software
- Reports all system problems to appropriate personnel and management, taking all the necessary steps to rectify any problem in a timely manner
- Provides training and other information on operating system and layered products so that staff will be fully knowledgeable and can address or react to any problems when required
- Other duties as assigned# Minimum Qualifications The following qualifications, or equivalents, are the minimum requirements necessary to perform the essential functions of this job : ## Education and Formal Training : Associate's degree in computer science OR 4 years of equivalent experience Bachelor's degree preferred## Work Experience :
- 3 years technical, hands-on experience with network operating systems in a homogenous computing environment required
- Experience with Windows Operating Systems, ADS, or Unix / HP-UX, Linux in a multi-protocol, multi-platform integrated network required## Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required :
- Ability and history of managing multiple priorities
- Knowledgeable with a wide variety of desktop office automation products such as Microsoft Office, Excel and Access as installed on a network. MCSE, A+, Network + or Server+ Certifications preferred## Physical Requirements :
