NeoGenomics is looking for a Surgical Pathologist who is interested in working at both NeoGenomics global headquarters and their partner facilities within the Lee Health system in Fort Myers, FL. Position Summary :
This position represents a split role, with service work split between NeoGenomics Headquarters laboratory in Fort Myers, FL (1-2 weeks per month) and at a partner, community health system (2-3 weeks per month). As a Surgical Pathologist you will be responsible for providing safe and efficient Pathology and laboratory services to NeoGenomics and the Lee Health system. You will provide advice on pathology and laboratory matters and professional pathology and laboratory standards of practice.
Responsibilities :
- Perform frozen section evaluations, as needed
- Render expert gross and / or microscopic diagnoses, incorporating advanced molecular or genetic information when appropriate
- Perform diagnostic interpretation of biopsy and / or cytology material to include gross and microscopic evaluation, dictation and electronic release of reviewed cases.
- Participate in a high-volume IHC interpretation service in our Headquarters lab, with a focus on biomarkers that inform therapy selection (e.g. PD-L1, c-MET, HER2, ER, PR, MMR, FOLR1, Claudin)
- Perform delegated medical director duties with regards to both anatomic and clinical laboratories
- Participate in several functions involved in day-to-day operations, including case consultation sign out responsibilities and may interact with our clients for Pre-Analytical, Analytical, and Post-Analytical questions.
- Read and interpret laboratory data.
- Perform quality control and assurance procedures and participates in departmental professional quality control and quality assurance activities.
- Work closely with clinical and administrative staff to insure the highest standards of TAT, quality, and customer service are maintained.
- Provide expertise and assistance to technologists and technicians to resolve case issues.
- Build effective relationships with referring physicians and ensures excellent client follow-up.
Education, Experience & Qualifications
M.D. or D.O degree, and board certification in Anatomic Pathology or Anatomic and Clinical Pathology. Fellowship training in Surgical Pathology (general or subspecialty) is strongly preferred.At least 2 years of practice post-fellowship is strongly preferred.Active, or eligibility for, unrestricted Medical License to practice in the state of FLAdditional state medical licensure in NY and TX is a plus.Ability to fulfill CLIA ’88 if required
