Job Description :
The College of Public Health and Health Professions and College of Medicine at the University of Florida are recruiting up to 3 full-time (1.0 FTE), 12-month tenured or tenure-track neuroscience faculty members at the Assistant, Associate or Professor level for appointment in either the Department of Biostatistics or the Department of Epidemiology.
The University of Florida has significant breadth and depth in neuroscience research, including neuro- and neuromuscular imaging, movement disorders, spinal cord injury and stroke, neurodegenerative diseases, and neurorehabilitation. There is a tremendous need for faculty who can perform epidemiological / clinical epidemiology / biostatistics studies in neurosciences, including but not limited to the genetics of Alzheimer's disease and Parkinson's disease; risk factors for poor neurodevelopment in children; neuroprevention; and rehabilitation for those with neurological disorders.
A ready collaborative infrastructure exists across UF, including the departments of Clinical and Health Psychology, Neurology, Neuroscience, Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy, the McKnight Brain Institute, and the 1Florida Alzheimer's Disease Research Center.
The successful candidates will be expected to contribute both collaboratively and independently to externally funded research and be principal investigators of extramurally funded projects. They will teach courses within those departments and / or public health programs and contribute to service through student mentorship and committee service.
Minimum Requirements : A doctoral degree in biostatistics, epidemiology, or a related field.
Preferred Qualifications : Exceptional candidates at all levels will be considered. For senior hires, a record of academic accomplishments, scholarly recognition, external research support, and leadership responsibilities to warrant appointment at the level of professor or associate professor is essential. For hires at the assistant professor level, potential to develop such a record should be demonstrated.
