Arapahoe Libraries is looking for a Library Specialist at Smoky Hill Library who can deliver exceptional service, support a busy community hub, and switch easily between tasks throughout the day. In this role, you'll provide welcoming, inclusive service and keep the library running smoothly by assisting with everything from shelving and displays to technology help and account inquiries, helping the Smoky Hill community discover resources, learn new skills, and feel at home in the library.
About the Role
Arapahoe Libraries is looking for a Library Specialist to join the team at Smoky Hill Library, nestled in a thriving suburban community and serving a wonderfully diverse population representing many cultures and languages.
Key Responsibilities
- Patron Assistance : Greet and engage visitors with proactive, friendly support
- Assist with account inquiries, payments, and general questions
- Provide basic advisory and reference services across multiple collections
- Promote and connect patrons with programs, events, and library resources
- Assist patrons with care and professionalism to maintain a positive library experience for all
Technology Support
Help patrons use library computers, printers, copiers, and reservable spacesProvide troubleshooting for devices, e-resources, and software such as Microsoft OfficeConnect patrons with staff for more advanced technology questionsMaterials Handling
Shelve, process, and maintain library materials and patron holdsCreate and maintain displays that highlight collectionsUtilize library systems to track and replenish materialsLearning and Collaboration
Stay current on new library offerings, technology, and trendsActively engage in staff communications to stay informedCollaborate with colleagues and contribute to a positive, team-focused environmentWhat You'll Bring

Required
One year of customer service, library, or education / teaching experienceAbility to work a flexible schedule including evenings and weekendsBasic skills in Microsoft 365 (Word, Excel, Outlook), and willingness to learn new technologiesEnthusiasm for working with people of all ages and backgroundsPreferred
Experience working with children and teens in a library, school, or public service settingSchedule Requirements
