SUMMARY

Ensure that suppliers are compensated on a timely basis and costs are charged to the correct accounts and departments. Solve any problems which arise from this function; prepare accrual of expense for the reimbursement of employees for business expenses. Responsible for preparing accounts payable register and related reports. Familiar with a variety of the field's concepts, practices, and procedures. Relies on extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Performs a variety of other tasks. A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

• Match incoming invoices with purchase orders (POs) and receivers
• Assist in the preparation of monthly reports and various reconciliations
• Generate payments to appropriate vendors
• Key in journal entries at the end of the month
• Resolve discrepancies between PO / vendor invoices / receipts as they relate to prices and quantities
• Verify, code, and data enter expense report data and invoices
• Manage all returns and vendor charge backs
• Tracking of inventory receiving issues at all plants locations.
• Preparation of detailed support of journal entries
• Respond to vendor inquires
• Assist in Month-end account reconciliations
• Annual filing of 1099 reports
• Organizational, timeliness and accuracy skills are a must for this position.
• Must demonstrate an understanding of general accounting topics and terminology.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

This job will eventually require the training and assignment of duties to two accounts payable analyst and an intern.

EDUCATION and / or EXPERIENCE

Associate's degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school in accounting or higher. Must have demonstrated past supervisory experience. Must understand the financial impact of the work performed and how transactions impact the general ledger. Must possess strong PC skills and experience (Windows, Excel, etc.)
