Overview
The Mechanical Engineer will work on project teams to create world class designs for new projects, alterations and redevelopments on HVAC and plumbing projects primarily for aviation, government, and military facilities. The engineer will work with the project team throughout the design and construction process, adapting HVAC and plumbing plans according to budget constraints, design factors or client needs.
Responsibilities
- Perform HVAC and plumbing design from the conceptual phase through design completion, covering air-side / duct design, chilled and condenser water, heating hot water, steam, HVAC controls, domestic water, sanitary waste and vent and compressed gases.
- Lead and perform HVAC load calculation and energy modeling calculations and life cycle cost analyses (LCCA) with software such as IESVE, Trane Trace, Energy Pro, etc.
- Modify and review production drawings for projects primarily focusing on aviation, government, and military facilities, and also including power plants, industrial, life science, and commercial facilities.
- Apply federal design guidelines : UFC and UFGS in project planning and design.
- Apply knowledge of HVAC and plumbing engineering concepts, codes and procedures (ASHRAE, ASPE, Title 24, IMC, IPC).
- Design HVAC and plumbing components for project needs as defined by project managers.
- Lead development of design documents in CAD software (Revit and AutoCAD).
- Research and compile project-related data for project managers.
- Prepare information for client presentations, shop drawing reviews, and contract administration for design projects.
- Perform field inspections, measurements or calculations for public and private clients.
- Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related degree from ABET-accredited program, plus 3 years of mechanical engineering experience. Plumbing and HVAC experience preferred. ORBachelor's Degree in Mechanical or related Engineering Technology from ABET-accredited program with FE exam completed and 3 years of mechanical engineering experience. Plumbing and HVAC experience preferred. ORMaster's Degree in Mechanical Engineering with 2 years of mechanical engineering experience; Plumbing and HVAC experience preferred.Strong knowledge of standard engineering techniques and procedures.Excellent written and verbal communication skills.Ability to work methodically and analytically in a quantitative problem-solving environment; demonstrated critical thinking skills.Proficient in standard engineering techniques and procedures.Strong computer skills (e.g. Microsoft Office) for writing design reports and calculations.Proficient in AutoCAD, Revit, energy modeling (IESVE, Trane Trace), and hydraulic analysis (AFT Fathom, Elite Ductsizer).Strong attention to detail, facilitation, teamwork, collaboration, organization and problem-solving skills.Professional Engineer (PE) license or Engineers in Training (EIT) certification preferred.Compensation
$105,000 - $220,000 Yearly
The compensation range is displayed in compliance with local / state regulations and is based on factors including education, qualifications, prior experience and location. The total annual compensation package may include a discretionary year-end incentive bonus program.
