Description : Environmental Health and Safety Manager
The EHS Manager reports to the Plant Manager and is responsible for ensuring a safe environment for employees, operational compliance with environmental regulations, and fostering a safety culture.
Duties / Responsibilities :
- Advise management on HSE matters
- Review plant operation and employee management of safety through physically walking and observing
- Manage plant LOTO program working in conjunction with Engineering to ensure LOTO placards and procedures exist for all equipment and processes
- Develop and execute equipment specific LOTO training
- Conduct behavior-based audits, train other auditors and monitor program
- Annually review and ensure implementation of HSE protocols; implement new protocol as necessary
- Ensure new plant machinery meets applicable requirements; follow up with maintenance regarding safety work orders and PMs affecting safety and environmental permits
- Collaborate with team members to ensure HSE requirements are being addressed
- Conduct trainings on safety, energy and environmental policies and procedures; facilitate HSE portion of new hire orientation; maintain training matrices
- Complete incident investigations, including post risk assessment, record keeping and documentation
- Conduct risk assessments and develop corrective actions, including ergonomic assessment of workplace
- Oversee fire alarm and fire protection system, and insurance-related risk management
- Manage purchase requisitions for HSE related materials, equipment, and services
- Conduct environmental inspections and audits
- Manage Waste Program
- Manage Industrial Hygiene Program
- Deploy EHS Management System
- Coordinate HAZCOM Program and SDS
- Complete and submit regulatory environmental report
- Act as Emergency Preparedness and Emergency Action Plan Coordinator
- Other responsibilities and projects as specified
Qualifications :
Education / Credentials / Certifications
Bachelor’s Degree in Occupational Health and Safety or related fieldOSHA 10 certificationOSHA 30 card recommendedEMT and / or First Responder CertificationInternal auditor – ISO 14001, ISO 50001 and ISO 45001 (completion required within 12 months)Length of Experience
At least 3-5 years of experience as a safety professional in heavy industrial and manufacturing environmentKnowledge, Skills, & Abilities
Well-versed in applicable standards : OSHA, IEPA, DOT, NFPA, etc.Knowledge of safety regulations and practicesKnowledge of environmental regulations and practicesAbility to lead through others and build cross-functional teamsUnderstanding of manufacturing facilities and machining processes; familiarity with shop floorKnowledge of industrial and office ergonomicsAbility to foster and stress the importance of a safety cultureExcellent oral and written language skillsExcellent problem solving and reasoning abilityAbility to follow step-by-step proceduresExcellent interpersonal skillsAbility to prioritize and reprioritize based on changing nature of risksAbility to use gauges and other measurement toolsExcellent computer skills and proficiency in Microsoft OfficeRequirements :
