American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Labor & Delivery role in a high-acuity Family Birthing Center, requiring a CA RN license and competency in all aspects of LDRP including c-section circulation.
\n \n Responsibilities\n
Work in an acute care Family Birthing Center encompassing Labor & Delivery, Postpartum, and OB servicesUnit features 10 L&D beds, 2 dedicated OR suites for C-sections, and triage and postpartum bedsPatient population includes high-risk OB cases such as preterm labor, inductions, hypertension, and cesarean sectionsTypical birth volume is 100-150 births per monthAdheres to AWHONN guidelines for patient ratios : L&D 1 : 1-2, postpartum 1 : 3-4 couplets, antepartum 1 : 1-3Uses Cerner EMR and GE Corometric Fetalink surveillance for fetal monitoring12-hour day shifts starting at 6 : 45 am, with every other weekend and rotating holiday coverageFloat requirement to other Sacramento area facilities possible, with rare mid-shift floatingNo in-house floating; first to float policy in effectScrubs are providedResponsible for comprehensive perinatal care including labor management, delivery (catching the baby), couplet care, and postpartum supportParticipation in on-unit clinical testing including Relias Dysrhythmia (before offer) and sterile technique assessment during orientation is requiredOB hospitalists are in-house 24 / 7; neonatologists are on call and conduct daily roundsCharge nurse available for support, generally not assigned patientsTeam includes OB surgical techs and supportive multidisciplinary staffHoliday coverage required for at least two of the three major holidays : Thanksgiving, Christmas, or New Year’sCandidates may not have worked directly as staff (full-time, part-time, or PRN) for any CommonSpirit, CHI, or Dignity facility in the past year\n \n Requirements\n
Active, unrestricted CA RN license required at the time of applicationMinimum of 2 years' recent Labor & Delivery experienceCurrent certifications : BLS, ACLS, NRP, and AWHONN-Advanced Fetal Monitoring (STABLE preferred)Ability to circulate for C-sections and perform all aspects of LDRP care independentlyMust be able to titrate drips including PitocinExperience reading and interpreting EKG strips in PACU for moms is requiredMust provide two professional references : one supervisor from within last 12 months, and one peer or supervisor from within last 3 yearsCopy of current driver’s license must be submitted\n Benefits\n
