About the position :

A Financial Systems Analyst provides accounting and finance-related systems support to users of case management systems and users of financial and accounting systems. They will provide direction to users on accounting processes, fund balancing issues, resolution of erroneous entries, adjustments, revenue distribution, and other accounting related issues, including reporting. Additionally, they determine and recommend changes to systems configurations, as needed, related to accounting and financial processes, revenue distribution changes due to new legislation or updates, or enhancements to the system for improved efficiencies and automation.

Key responsibilities :

  • Provide support for court financial and case management systems by resolving accounting issues, maintaining system configurations, and ensuring accurate application of financial procedures and revenue distribution.
  • Prepare, analyze, and reconcile reports from financial systems, ensuring data accuracy, identifying discrepancies, and supporting reporting requirements with customized data extracts.
  • Analyze and improve financial workflows by identifying automation opportunities and developing system enhancements to increase efficiency and reduce manual processes.
  • Conduct testing and validation of system changes, including revenue distribution updates and legislative modifications, to ensure functionality and compliance with court requirements.
  • Collaborate with Court Technology Services staff and vendors to troubleshoot system issues, implement changes, and support integration between case management and financial systems.
  • Develop and deliver user training on updated financial processes and system features, create training materials, and maintain system documentation to support end users effectively.

This is a telework eligible opportunity. This position may be eligible for full or partial telework following an initial training period and contingent upon the needs of the court.

Minimum requirements :

To qualify, you must meet one of the following options at the time of application :

  • Option I : High school diploma or equivalent -AND- five (5) years of journey-level experience analyzing financial data, making recommendations, and performing systems analysis, testing, user support, and related functions for enterprise-wide financial applications.
  • Option II : Bachelor's degree
  • from an accredited four-year college or university with a major in business administration, finance, computer science, or a related field
  • AND- three (3) years of progressively responsible experience performing financial or systems analysis, testing, user support, and related functions for financial applications.
  • Note : Credit for experience is given based on a 40-hour workweek. Part-time experience is credited on a part-time ratio (e.g., working 20 hours per week for two months equals one month of experience). Overtime does not count toward additional credit.

    Desirable qualifications :

  • Experience gathering, reviewing, analyzing, and documenting system requirements or issues and recommending solutions.
  • Proven involvement in systems development and enhancement projects, including defining project scope, analyzing user needs, and developing functional specifications.
  • Strong decision-making skills with the ability to exercise sound, independent judgment in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
  • Strong experience gathering, analyzing, and presenting data in a clear and concise manner to executive level leadership.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with a high level of emotional intelligence and the ability to engage effectively with staff at all organizational levels.
  • Proficiency in productivity and data tools such as Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SQL Server, and Team Foundation Server (or similar platforms).
  • Familiarity with case management systems such as Odyssey or eCourt, and / or financial systems including SAP or similar platforms.
  • Solid understanding of government accounting practices, including Trial Court Revenue Distribution Guidelines and Judicial Council Trial Court Financial Policies and Procedures.
