Minimum level of being proficient in the processing of tissue samples according to laboratory protocolsMinimum level of being proficient in the skill of embedding tissue into paraffin blocksMinimum level of being proficient microtomy and to generate quality tissue sectionsAccurately mount tissue specimens on glass slidesExamine blocks and or slides to identify anatomical landmarks macroscopically or microscopically to ensure tissue preparation meets laboratory requirementsDocument and maintain study records to comply with appropriate regulatory requirementsReview and understand data associated with the studyPosition Requirements
Education and experience
Certified Histology Technician HT or HTL(ASCP), ASCP board certified eligible or have a minimum of one year of relevant industry experienceHigh School Diploma or GED, with lab and GLP experience preferredRequired experience must also reflect the Skills and Responsibilities outlined belowSkills and abilities

Demonstrate an understanding of SOPs and Good Laboratory Practice regulations (21CFR,Part58) as these relate to study-specific services provided, this job description and general facility operationsDemonstrate proficiency in the use of relevant computer systems, specifically MS Excel, Word, and OutlookDocument all GLP, GCP, and process training, provide a CV and ensure that his / her training file is kept currentDocumenting all study and laboratory activities as required for compliance and to maintain study data files and specimens in an organized and confidential fashionPhysical Activity
Moderate physical activity This position will require frequent walking, sitting and / or standing for extended periods of time, carrying, heavy lifting (max. 50lbs), reaching while standing, gripping and twisting hand movements, finger control and other general repetitive motions (for more than four [4] hours per day)Able to wear latex or nitrile gloves, dust mask or respirator, and safety glasses as required.Ability to read and understand applicable materialsManual dexterity to operate assigned laboratory equipment and computersAble to read and interpret test results and instrument specificationsWorking Conditions
Work is normally performed in a typical interior office work or laboratory environmentWork environment involves exposure to potentially dangerous materials and situations that require following extensive safety precautions and may include use of protective equipmentThe noise level is usually moderateThis position will frequently be involved with sharp, solvents, irritants, acids, bases, and other hazardous chemicals, flammable materials and bio-hazards. Due to exposure to hazardous biological material (which may include HPB positive specimens), immunization to Hepatitis B and / or other diseases may be a requirement.This position could be offered at different levels for candidates who qualify with a combination of advanced levels of education and / or years of experience.
