Position Summary :
The Food Safety & Quality Assurance (FSQA) Technician is an essential part of our team, ensuring that Sierra Meat & Seafood’s operations consistently meet or exceed all regulatory and company food safety and quality standards.
This entry-level role supports daily quality checks, inspections, and documentation related to USDA, FDA, FSMA, Organic, MSC, HACCP, and SQF requirements. The FSQA Technician will work hands-on with production, sanitation, maintenance, and logistics teams to uphold Sierra’s reputation for producing safe, consistent, and high-quality products.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities :
Regulatory Compliance and Verification
Monitor and document adherence to all USDA, FDA, FSMA, Organic, MSC, HACCP, and SQF requirements.
Conduct pre-operational and operational inspections to ensure sanitation and compliance with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs).
Support internal and external audits, product inspections, and compliance reviews.
Maintain accurate and organized records of inspections, testing, and corrective actions.
Verify product labeling, lot coding, and traceability for regulatory accuracy and internal consistency.
Quality Assurance Activities
Perform product sampling, temperature checks, weight verification, and visual inspections.
Monitor control points during production to verify compliance with HACCP and SQF standards.
Support environmental and allergen monitoring programs and sanitation verifications.
Identify and report deviations or non-conformances and assist in corrective actions.
Help ensure measuring devices and monitoring equipment are properly calibrated and maintained.
Cross-Departmental Collaboration
Partner with Production, Sanitation, and Maintenance teams to reinforce a proactive food safety culture.
Communicate findings and recommendations clearly to supervisors and department leads.
Support employee training initiatives related to GMPs, food safety, and quality programs.
Administrative and Other Responsibilities
Maintain inspection logs, records, and verification documents for audit readiness.
Assist in tracking FSQA performance metrics and continuous improvement projects.
Participate in team meetings and contribute to problem-solving discussions.
Perform other duties as assigned by the FSQA Manager.
Qualifications and Requirements :
High school diploma or GED.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to food safety and product quality.
Ability to read and follow written procedures and regulatory documentation.
Effective communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
Basic computer literacy (Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook).
Ability to stand for extended periods, work in refrigerated environments, and lift up to 50 lbs (within OSHA guidelines).
