Summary

The Director, External Affairs is responsible for connecting with broadcaster allies and external third-party groups to build support for NAB’s legislative and regulatory agenda. Through these activities, the Director will ensure Members of Congress, the Federal Communications Commission (FCC), and other policy makers understand the impact and importance of local broadcasters. This position will report to the SVP, Government Relations.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain relationships with third-party organizations to build broad industry support for NAB’s legislative and regulatory agenda.
• Create further inroads with think tanks, consumer groups, and organizations representing a diverse range of interests.
• Maintain frequent communication with third-party contacts and provide regular updates regarding NAB’s issues and priorities.
• Work closely with advocacy team members to ensure seamless integration of lobbying and third-party outreach efforts.
• Prepare materials to assist in third-party efforts, including grassroots plans, talking points, letters of support, op-eds, etc.
• Assist Senior Vice President with budget planning and determining most effective allocation of External Affairs financial resources in support of advocacy priorities.
• Manage day-to-day responsibilities relating to budget tracking and invoicing.
• Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Work Location and Schedule

Availability to work hybrid work schedule which includes at least three days in the Washington D.C. office. Ability to travel domestically up to 10% of the time. Availability to attend evening and weekend events.
