The Morrow County Circuit Court in Heppner, Oregon is hiring a Supervisor 2. In this role

Much of your day will be spent planning, assigning, and reviewing the work of employees. You will be responsible for supervising all operational units of the court, determining the workflow of the units, establishing work priorities, and adjusting as necessary to meet work demands. As a supervisor, you will develop performance standards and expectations for staff, provide feedback, document performance issues, and assist in the screening, interviewing, hiring, training, and cross-training of staff for all Sixth District locations.

You will coordinate court activities with judges, court leadership, attorneys, litigants, and other governmental agencies. You are also expected to perform the typical duties of assigned staff to maintain workflow during employee absences or peak times.

As a key member of the management team, you will provide input in the development and implementation of policies, objectives, and goals as well as assist in program development and administration. You will be a resource to the rest of the court, responding to the most difficult complaints and requests for information on policies and procedures.

Benefits to you include :

  • We pay 95% to 99% of medical insurance premiums for full-time employees [OR up to 99% of medical insurance premiums for part-time employees], including mental health coverage.
  • The hourly equivalent for this position is $35.95 - $55.77. [OR the annual salary for this position is $74,772 - $11,5992.]
  • 10 paid holidays, 2 floating holidays, 3 personal business days, separate sick and vacation paid leaves (prorated for part-time employees), and other employee benefits such as optional insurances and flexible spending plans.
  • OJD will pay you a 5% allowance for bilingual skills (includes ASL) if you can pass a skills test and are assigned to use those skills on the job!
  • Salary offers are made with consideration of the candidate's education and experience.

Location highlights include :

Heppner, Oregon is about 50 miles south of the Columbia River snuggled against the foothills of the Blue Mountains in Northeastern Oregon. Incorporated in 1887, this town got the nickname of "Gateway to the Blues" regarding the Blue Mountains. Recreation in this area is full of fishing activities along with other outdoor activities such as the Willow Creek Water Park during the summer and snowmobiling, cross-country skiing, and snowshoeing during the winter. Lastly, numerous trails spot the area for endless exploration.

  • Minimum qualifications include :

  • The qualified candidate must have a bachelor's degree in court administration, management, business or public administration, or a closely related field.
  • OR Four (4) years of progressively responsible supervisory or staff-support experience. Qualifying OJD experience would be at the equivalent of Court Operations Associate or above.
  • Note : Four (4) years of recent experience supervising, directly or through lead workers, staff performing a wide variety of clerical or administrative support duties must include most, or all, of the following : developing work procedures, hiring or recommending hiring, training, assigning and reviewing work, evaluating performance, responding to staff concerns, and handling disciplinary actions.
  • Requested skills and attributes include :

  • Experience supervising staff, assigning / reviewing work, and evaluating workload.
  • Experience evaluating statutory, rule, or system changes to ensure rules, processes, or procedures are compliant and meet all necessary requirements.
  • Experience leading or working on special projects in workgroups.
  • Skill adapting and making decisions related to priorities, processes and workflow in a rapidly changing work environment.
  • Skill presenting information clearly and logically, both verbally and in writing.
  • Proficiency using a computer to enter and retrieve information.
  • Ability to perform, or to learn all duties performed by subordinates, including preparing complex judgments in real time.
  • Working conditions include :

  • This is a full-time position, and the work schedule is 8 : 00 a.m. to 5 : 00 p.m. Monday through Friday. This position is not eligible for overtime compensation for hours worked in excess of 40 hours per week.
  • Occasional after-hours or overtime work may be required.
  • Occasional travel to support other supervisors and departments in Pendleton and Hermiston.
  • Frequent phone and in-person contact with people from diverse backgrounds.
  • Frequent phone and in-person contact with people who may be facing challenging life circumstances or highly stressful situations.
  • Regular use of the following equipment : telephone, OJD-assigned computer with multiple monitors, copy machine, fax machine, and scanner.
