Associate Network Engineer (Richmond, VA)
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Associate Network Engineer to join our IT Infrastructure team. This entry-level position is ideal for candidates with foundational knowledge of networking concepts and some experience in IT support, help desk, or junior network roles. You'll work closely with experienced engineers to support and maintain our global network infrastructure, gaining exposure to enterprise technologies and best practices.
Location
Richmond, VA office; schedule is Monday–Thursday in office and Friday remote. This role may require up to 25% travel to stand up new offices.
Responsibilities
- Assist in the monitoring and basic troubleshooting of network infrastructure including switches, routers, firewalls, and wireless access points.
- Respond to network-related support tickets, escalating issues to senior engineers as needed.
- Help with documentation of network configurations, diagrams, and procedures.
- Participate in office network setups, including cabling, device configuration, and connectivity testing.
- Support inventory and asset tracking for network hardware.
- Collaborate with IT teams including NetOps, Service Desk, and Systems to ensure reliable connectivity and performance.
- Work with various networking technologies including : Firewalls – Palo Alto; SDWAN – Palo Alto Prisma; Cisco Catalyst switches; Wireless – Aruba controllers and access points, Clearpass; SASE – Zscaler; IPAM – Infoblox; Network Management – LogicMonitor, OpenText, HPE UXI.
Basic Qualifications
Bachelor's degree required from an accredited not-for-profit university or college in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field, graduating in May 2026.Minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA.Some hands-on experience in IT support, help desk, or junior networking roles.Foundational understanding of networking concepts such as IP addressing, DNS, DHCP, VLANs, and VPNs.Familiarity with basic troubleshooting tools and techniques.Strong communication skills and a willingness to learn in a fast-paced environment.Preferred Qualifications and Skills
Exposure to enterprise networking equipment (e.g., Cisco, Aruba, Palo Alto).Entry-level certifications such as CompTIA Network+, CCNA, or equivalent (or working toward one).Experience with ticketing systems and basic change management processes.Familiarity with Wi-Fi troubleshooting or basic firewall concepts.What's in it for you?
