Lab IS Analyst - Laboratory Information Systems
Lab IS Analyst is a member of the LIS team with knowledge and ability to work on multiple applications within the LIS area of responsibilities.
Core Responsibilities And Essential Functions
- Provides application implementation support and works on tasks and tickets as assigned by manager and other Senior LIS analyst.
- Understands Laboratory workflows and can troubleshoot and resolve operational workflow issues as they arise.
- Ensures all LIS applications are in compliance with CAP, JCAHO, AABB, and HIPAA regulations.
- Adheres to HIPAA regulations for transactions, security and confidentiality.
- Monitors instrument interface status.
- Guides and advises less-experienced LIS analysts.
- Performs job functions with customer service focus of innovation, service excellence and teamwork to provide the highest quality care and service to our patients, families and co-workers.
- Maintains WellStar Laboratory applications to ensure organizational business and clinical needs are met.
- Unable to work on assigned phases of the IT application delivery life cycle and provides high level and individual support.
- Ensures WellStar Change Control process is followed.
- Monitors and works incidents via the WellStar IT incident ticket system, ensuring SLAs are being met.
- Maintains current knowledge and certifications of the applications that you support.
- Customers are using the provided LIS applications effectively and without issue.
Project Management And Status Reporting
Works on project tasks at direction of Senior LIS team members and Manager of LIS with minimal supervision.Creates task work plans, meets assign deadlines, develops documentation, provides timely status reports.Collaboratively works with end-users to understand workflows and supports them.Manages and escalates issues.Manages Scope and Change Management Process for all LIS applications.Recommend improvements, maintain close communication and work with other analyst and Manager of LIS.Acts as liaison between LIS team, other application teams, infrastructure, providers, clinicians, vendors and operations.Coordinates and integrates project, break / fix activities.Identifies and manages risk factors associated with applications, programs during implementation, optimization and support.Develops and monitors testing scenarios and methodologies, prepares and maintains documentation on testing plans.Participates in (occasionally leads in) completion of user documentation and training procedures.Required Minimum Education
Bachelor's Degree in Medical Technology, Biology, Microbiology, Chemistry, or related field.
Preferred Training And Certifications
Epic Beaker CP & AP application build, administration, instrument interface
Sunquest / Co-Path application build, administration, instrument interface
Blood Bank application build, administration, instrument interface
RALS POC (Point of Care) build, administration, instrument interface
Required Minimum Experience
Minimum 3 years of related work experience in applied areas of health care. Minimum 3 years of clinical laboratory experience. SQL and HL7 Structure experience Preferred. Project management experience required.
Required Minimum Skills
Experienced in Microsoft Office products. Strong communication, presentation and customer relation skills. Analytical ability and interpersonal skills to communicate effectively with providers, clinical staff and IT staff.
