Overview
Higgins & Associates, Inc. Forensic Engineers & Architects provides forensic engineering, architectural consulting, expert witness, construction quality assurance and cost consulting services to the insurance industry, law firms, contractors, and commercial / residential property owners. We are seeking a Professional Engineer to conduct forensic investigations, property loss evaluations, claims consulting, design review, quality assurance observations, and construction defect expert witness services for commercial, institutional, multi-family and residential buildings.
Base pay range
$80,000.00 / yr - $120,000.00 / yr
Responsibilities
- Perform field inspections, required site visits and conduct site investigation activities in conjunction with other professionals on staff.
- Review background documentation to determine original construction detailing and identify areas of risk (i.e., water penetration, air leakage, condensation, etc.).
- Assess and provide opinions and recommendations relating to structural and civil engineering failures including associated building enclosures where applicable.
- Develop engineering reports detailing opinions based on sound technical knowledge supported by industry best practice, building codes and regulations.
- Develop repair designs and undertake quality assurance observations during the implementation of repairs as requested by the client.
- Use excellent communication skills to ensure deadlines and cost targets are met.
- Provide technical advice to clients including attorneys, property owners, contractors, and insurers.
- Collaborate with other team members to produce effective engineering deliverables.
Qualifications
A Professional Engineer license or three years' post-graduation professional experience with the ability to obtain licensure within the next year.A good understanding of residential, commercial, or institutional building design and construction.Knowledge of standards of the engineering industry including building codes as well as knowledge of building enclosure design principles.Ability to manage multiple deadlines while remaining detail and quality focused.Ability to communicate complex technical information and build rapport with clients, contractors, sub-contractors and other stakeholders.Proficient in the use of Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, BlueBeam Revu, and knowledge of finite element or other commonly used design and analysis tools.A working knowledge of AutoCAD and Revit is desirable.Education / Formal Training
Degree from an ABET accredited university in the field of civil, structural, or architectural engineering.Our Offer
