Medical Assistant II

Location : Houston, TX - Texas Medical Center

Pay Rate : $21 / hr

Schedule : Monday - Friday, 8 : 00 AM to 5 : 00 PM

Dean's Professional Services is actively seeking an experienced Certified Medical Assistant to join a respected Texas Children's outpatient clinic in the Texas Medical Center. This role supports patient care by coordinating clinic flow, assisting providers, and delivering exceptional customer service in a fast-paced healthcare environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Welcome and assist patients and families in a professional, timely, and culturally sensitive manner
  • Coordinate patient flow, appointment schedules, and rooming to ensure smooth clinic operations
  • Perform patient registration, verify demographics, and collect co-pays or service fees
  • Assist providers with patient care, including taking vitals, administering medications (per policy), and preparing equipment for exams and procedures
  • Collect and process lab specimens, perform point-of-care testing, and accurately document results
  • Maintain exam rooms, supplies, and equipment in compliance with infection control standards
  • Communicate effectively with patients, providers, and staff to address delays, concerns, and care needs

Qualifications

  • Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) - State of Texas (required)
  • Minimum 2 years of experience as a Medical Assistant, preferably in an outpatient clinic
  • Knowledge of medical terminology, patient care tasks, and appointment scheduling
  • Strong communication, customer service, and time management skills
  • Bilingual (Spanish / English) preferred
  • College degree preferred
