Livermore Facility Driver

Stanford Libraries is seeking a full-time Livermore Facility Driver to join the Stanford Auxiliary Library. About the Position :

The Livermore Facility Driver transports materials between campus and the Stanford University Librarys high-density, high-efficiency, preservation storage facility located in Livermore, California (SAL3). This facility is located fifty miles from the Stanford University campus. The Facility Driver also performs process support tasks and does minor equipment and fixture repairs.

Core Duties :

• Safe transport of Library materials and rare archival items between various branch libraries on campus and off campus sites including Page Mill, Newark and soon, the Redwood City campus and SAL3 using established guidelines for careful handling.
• Loads, packs and secures carts and bins into truck efficiently so that items are not damaged during transport.
• Drives in a safe manner to insure truck, contents, and driver arrive at destinations safely.
• Drives in courteous manner as an on-the-road representative of Stanford University.
• Delivers and picks up paged library items at designated branches for campus distribution.
• Delivers and picks up archival items directly to and from designated personnel at Special Collections, Hoover, and Archive of Recorded Sound libraries.
• Locks and alarms truck when leaving it unattended.
• Stays with the truck at all times when it contains Special Collections, Hoover, and Archive of Recorded Sound items.
• Coordinates with campus contacts transfer logistics and adjustments to up / delivery times.
• Notify supervisor if on-site pick-ups did not match plan; keeping track of all pick-ups / deliveries.
• Line up next-day morning deliveries at SAL3 loading dock each afternoon.
• Manages supply of empty carts to ensure availability.
• Delivers processing supplies to campus partners.
• Hand transports campus mail to and from campus box in Access Services to SAL3.
• Load and unload materials by use of hand truck, pallet jack, dolly or forklift.

Minimum Requirements :

Education and Experience : High School diploma or equivalent and one-year relevant work experience or combination of a combination of equivalent education and work experience. Ability to obtain and maintain a California Non-commercial Class C Drivers license.
