The Position
This is a great opportunity for an energetic, dedicated Quality Engineer to join our Quality Engineering Team. The right person will lead internal quality assurance activities for assigned customers to achieve customer PPM expectations, Acme's internal quality goals and provide QA support for NPI projects. Ensure compliance with customer requirements and Acme's ISO9001 / AS9100 Quality Management Systems. Contribute to continuous improvement activities by utilizing QA capabilities and product inspection data. QA scope includes internal processes, production routing, supplier services and raw material suppliers' products.
Job Duties
- Metrology & Inspection Systems : Develop and optimize measurement methods using CMM, surface finish testers, and other precision instruments.
- Metrology & Inspection Systems : Ensure gaging conforms to ANSI / ASME Y14.5 GD&T
- Advanced Quality Planning : Develop FMEAs, control plans, PPAP documentation, and process flow diagrams for new and existing products.
- Advanced Quality Planning : Support APQP activities to ensure robust process controls from prototype through production.
- Quality System Compliance : Ensure compliance with AS9100D, ISO 9001, and customer-specific requirements.
- Quality System Compliance : Prepare for and support internal, customer, and third-party audits.
- Process Improvement : Use root cause analysis (8D, 5-Why, Ishikawa) to resolve quality issues and drive corrective / preventive actions.
- Process Improvement : Partner with production and engineering to implement process controls that reduce variation and improve capability (Cp / Cpk).
- Customer & Supplier Interface : Communicate with customers regarding quality issues, corrective actions, and quality plans.
- Customer & Supplier Interface : Support supplier quality initiatives, including supplier audits and incoming inspection improvements.
The Right Person / What We Need From You
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience).3–5+ years of quality engineering experience in precision machining, aerospace, or defense manufacturing.Proficiency in FMEA, control plans, APQP, and PPAP documentation.Strong metrology skills and experience with CMM programming (PC-DMIS or equivalent).Solid understanding of GD&T per ASME Y14.5.Working knowledge of AS9100D requirements and aerospace industry quality standards.Experience with statistical process control (SPC) and capability studies.Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.Provides the technique and guidance for selecting and implementing the appropriate measuring tools for machined parts.Demonstrated ability to lead problem-solving with structured methods like 8DPreferred Skills
