Overview
The Safety Coordinator plays a critical role in supporting Ashley's comprehensive safety program across all facilities. This position ensures compliance with regulatory and company safety standards while promoting a secure environment for all employees and Ashley property. The Safety Coordinator conducts safety investigations, maintains training programs and records, develops and facilitates various safety training sessions, and performs safety audits. This role requires close collaboration with the Worker's Compensation Department to review and investigate work-related injury claims.

Primary Responsibilities
Regulatory Compliance & Policy Management
Ensure compliance with all OSHA regulations and company safety standardsUpdate company safety policies and procedures according to regulatory changesAdvise management on regulatory issues and support abatement of violationsConduct monthly supervisor safety training sessionsReview photos / videos for potential regulatory violationsFacilitate new employee orientation (NEO) safety presentationsTraining Program Development & Delivery
Develop, schedule, and facilitate comprehensive safety training programs including :Authorized Lockout / Tagout (LOTO) classesPersonal Industrial Vehicle (PIV) trainingConfined Space safety presentationsFall Protection trainingLadder Safety trainingParticulate Respirator trainingHot Works Permit trainingOverhead Hoist Safety trainingConduct Train-the-Trainer sessions for Mentor / CertifiersSchedule and coordinate specialized training for employees unable to attend regular sessionsSafety Assessments & Investigations
Investigate accidents and conduct injury investigations with follow-upPerform Level 2 and Level 3 Machine AssessmentsConduct Machine Modification Reviews and PPE AssessmentsComplete Hazardous Energy Assessments and Task-Based Risk AssessmentsPerform LOTO audits and ODSC auditsEvaluate walking and working surfaces, ergonomics, and machine guardingEmployee Relations & Support
Meet with employees regarding safety issues and concernsResolve employee safety complaints with appropriate follow-upProvide first aid assistance, evaluate injuries, and transport employees to medical facilities when necessaryAddress safety concerns proactively to maintain positive employee relationsAdministrative & Coordination Functions
Maintain safety training records and documentationCollaboration with Worker's Compensation Department on injury reviewsManage chemical inventory processesCreate LOTO, Standard Work Procedures (SWP), and Alternative Measures documentsSchedule annual equipment inspections (fire extinguishers, alarms, sprinkler systems)Coordinate audiometric testing and hearing protection programsOrder safety supplies through MRO and Purchasing departmentsMaintain reliable attendance and participate in departmental meetingsAssist with training other employees and provide backup coverageFill in for Medical Technician or Security as neededComplete special projects and assignments as requestedDemonstrate Ashley's Core and Growth Values in all job functionsWhat Do You Need?
Education
Bachelor's degree in Occupational health and safety or related field, OR equivalent work experienceExperience
Minimum 6 months' experience in manufacturing health & safetyCertifications
First Aid, CPR, and AED certification (or ability to obtain within 6 months)Technical Knowledge
