Job Summary
The College of Literature, Science and Arts (LSA) at the University of Michigan is seeking a well-qualified applicant for a unique role supporting unionized personnel and contracts in LSA. As a Labor Relations Representative (Intermediate), you will work under the general direction of the LSA Manager for Labor Relations to advise on and administer labor agreements, and handle and resolve complaints and disputes.
A hybrid work arrangement is available, with part of the work done on the Ann Arbor campus. The College of LSA has over 75 departments and programs, 100 degree programs, and an unwavering commitment to the liberal arts.
Responsibilities
- Interpret and administer collective bargaining agreements, ensuring compliance with terms and conditions.
- Investigate and respond to grievances, including conducting interviews, gathering evidence, and making recommendations for resolution.
- Develop relationships with union representatives, management, and employees to promote positive labor relations.
- Provide guidance to management on labor relations issues, including contract interpretation and grievance handling.
- Participate in labor negotiations, including preparing proposals, researching industry trends, and developing negotiation strategies.
- Partner with administrative units to provide data reports and analysis.

3+ years of experience in labor relations, human resources, or a related field.Knowledge of labor laws, regulations, and industry standards, including the National Labor Relations Act (NLRA) and state laws.Experience with collective bargaining agreements, grievance procedures, and arbitration processes.Knowledge of complex labor relations issues and solutions.Familiarity with labor relations systems, including grievance tracking and contract management tools.A degree in labor relations or a related field is desired.Work Arrangement
Positions that are eligible for hybrid or mobile / remote work mode are at the discretion of the hiring department. Work agreements are reviewed annually at a minimum and are subject to change at any time, and for any reason, throughout the course of employment.
Salary
The salary range for this position is $70,000 to $79,825. A higher salary may be possible for well-qualified candidates.
