job_description.job_card.job_descriptionPlan, schedule and coordinate leisure activity programs to meet the variety of interest and the physical, cognitive, and psycho-social needs of all residents Develop activity programs to allow all residents to participate within their capabilities Inform the residents and staff and administration of the current schedule of planned activities; develop facility calendars, flyers, posters or newsletters as directed Complete an evaluation of each resident regarding past and present leisure interests, abilities, limitations and needs; this shall serve as a basis from which the activity program shall be developed Maintain timely progress notes specific to the resident's activity participation; retain records in organized manner Act to promote team work in providing the best possible resident care and services Maintain professional working relationships with all personnel, residents and families Operate resident activities within the budget allocated by the administrator Establish an active volunteer program which includes the recruiting, screening, orienting, training and supervising of volunteers Serve as a facility liaison to promote positive community support and involvement in the facility Report any accident / incident or hazards, no matter how insignificant Maintains activities equipment in proper working condition to ensure the safety of our staff and residents Adhere to all resident rights, including, privacy, confidentiality, and treating residents with dignity and respect Maintain confidentiality of all resident care information Perform other duties as assigned Sitting, standing and walking throughout the day with intermittent driving Using office equipment such as computer, mouse, keyboard, printer Indoor office environment, temperature controlled; may perform duties outside in cold or hot temperatures Comfortable using and climbing on step stools Certain activities may require repetitive movements including climbing, crawling, crouching, pulling, pushing May be subject to exposure to infectious waste, diseases, conditions including HIV and Hepatitis B viruses. Commitment to fulfilling the mission of Senior Housing Options, Inc. to provide safe, comfortable housing for seniors and people with disabilities Demonstrated ability to serve our residents in a compassionate manner at all times Maintain a professional demeanor and respond with urgency Show strong teambuilding and interpersonal skills, exercise ownership over job duties and team performance Understanding of discretion needed in handling confidential information Self-directed, accountable for results and proactive; independent problem solver Ability to communicate clearly both verbally and in writing, including the ability to provide non-technical assistance in a simple, straightforward manner Demonstrate sensitivity to the concerns of residents and a commitment to dealing fairly with all Friendly, professional demeanor, positive disposition, tactful, patience and high ethical character even while dealing with difficult or upset residents Strong organizational and interpersonal skills; attention to detail Intermediate computer knowledge and typing skills; working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite Respect for privacy and ability to maintain confidentiality of resident care information Enjoys community involvement, resident interaction, and public representation of the organization Familiarity with operation and adjustment of walkers, wheelchairs, powered scooters and van lifts a plus Safely load and unload residents from buses, vans or other vehicles, minimizing falls risks or other injuries Available to be on call once a month Bilingual a plus High school diploma or equivalent required; Bachelors’ Degree in related field preferred 2-4 years’ progressive working experience in a healthcare environment required Experience working with elderly activities and the special needs of the elderly population preferred Certified activities professional preferred Ability to read, write, speak and understand the English language fluently, and communicate verbally and in writing at a professional level Ability to organize, supervise and direct others that may or may not directly report to this position This position may transport residents in a company vehicle, as such a valid driver's license is required QMAP and First Aid certification required; if not currently certified must have ability to become certified 32 hours a week 9am-4pm One weekend day required

Senior Housing Options, Inc ., a non-profit providing affordable, safe housing and care for seniors and people with disabilities, has a great opportunity for an Activities Coordinator to join our team.. The Activities Coordinator is responsible for planning, organizing and supervising all resident activities creating an engaging and interactive environment for our residents. This position will also oversee an active volunteer program and serve as a facility liaison to promote community interaction. This position may support other functions within the facility and complete other duties as needed in accordance with regulations as directed by the Administrator.
