Overview

JOB TITLE : Refrigeration & Air Conditioning Engineer

Join to apply for the Engineer - Refrigeration (HVAC) role at SAHARA Las Vegas. This role focuses on preventive and ongoing maintenance of the hotel, casino, back of house, and retail areas in accordance with departmental policies, practices and procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Proficient and versatile in one or more building trades : electrical, painting, carpentry, industrial plumbing, HVAC, kitchen appliances, swimming pools, and general mechanics.
  • Service and maintain large commercial refrigeration rack and standalone equipment, including parallel rack refrigeration systems, semi-hermetic compressors, large commercial ice machines, walk-in cold rooms, blast chillers, and various types of commercial air conditioning systems.
  • Report all equipment and fixture errors to Management.
  • Respond to emergencies throughout the facility.
  • Maintain supply inventories and maintenance logs for all assigned areas.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by area Management and assist other trades with routine and emergency work.
  • Complete additional duties / tasks as assigned by the Supervisor.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Five to seven (5-7) years of experience in commercial refrigeration service.
  • Minimum five to seven (5-7) years of journeyman experience in installation, troubleshooting, repair and maintenance of refrigeration equipment including ice machines, air conditioning and heating units.
  • Ability to solder, braze, weld, pipe fitting, and electrical trouble shooting.
  • Ability to read interrupt electrical and mechanical schematics; use a Volt-Ohm-Meter to troubleshoot systems; troubleshoot with manifold pressure gauges.
  • Experience with Building Automation Systems (BAS); Delta preferred.
  • Knowledge of hand tools, equipment handling, storage requirements, and safety practices.
  • Previous experience in commercial A / C and refrigeration in a resort setting.
  • Effective communication with all levels of business; professional appearance and demeanor.
  • Ability to work varied shifts, including weekends and holidays; fluent in English (written and verbal).
  • Strong interpersonal and organizational skills; ability to work with diverse teams.
  • Commitment to workplace safety and proper use of safety equipment; report unsafe conditions.
  • Experience with hand and power tools and office equipment.
  • EPA Universal Card or equivalent; valid NV Driver's License required before entering this position; must be 21 years of age or older.
