The Sherman Early Childhood Center is a full-time Jewish preschool at Congregation Har Shalom in Potomac, MD. We are committed to offering a safe and nurturing environment where learning happens through play, collaboration, and an integrated emergent curriculum.

We are looking for a caring, nurturing, inspiring, and enthusiastic assistant teacher who can be a contributing professional team member. This position will work Monday - Friday, 8 : 15am-5 : 15pm.

Requirements :

  • 1-3 years of experience with ages 1-3.
  • Creative, team player, excellent communicator, nurturing, dedicated, and flexible.
  • Experience differentiating instruction for all learners.

Responsibilities :

  • Collaborate with the teaching team in planning, setting up, and implementing learning opportunities, using a child-centered, emergent curriculum.
  • Follow all school, synagogue, and requirements set by the Office of Childcare, MD State Department of Education.
  • Support the children’s physical, emotional, social emotional, and special needs.
  • Ensure the safety of all children with proper supervision and care.
  • Support the school's educational philosophy, values, Jewish content, and the children's and family's experience.
  • Communicate effectively and in a timely manner with the teaching team and leadership regarding the students, families, and the classroom.
  • Support the classroom team in documentation of student progress, and incidents and be familiar with all student needs and health issues.
  • Participate in all team meetings and family programming assigned, beyond school hours.
  • Physical ability to care and insure the safety of all children including lifting, carrying, and running.
