Job Description :

  • Plant Manager (Contract-to-Hire) Overview Value Driven Solutions is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Plant Manager for a contract-to-hire opportunity to lead operations at a large-scale metal fabrication facility specializing in high-capacity tanks, pressure vessels, and custom-engineered storage solutions.
  • The Plant Manager will oversee a team of 70 employees, ensuring efficient production, stringent quality control, and adherence to safety standards while driving operational excellence and meeting project deadlines.
  • This role offers the potential for permanent employment based on performance.

Key Responsibilities Operational Leadership :

  • Direct all plant operations, including production, fabrication, quality control, and logistics, to ensure timely and cost-effective delivery of high-quality products.
  • Team Management :

  • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of 70 employees, including supervisors, welders, fabricators, and support staff, fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement.
  • Safety Compliance :

  • Champion workplace safety by enforcing OSHA regulations, conducting regular safety audits, implementing training programs, and ensuring a zero-harm environment.
  • Quality Assurance :

  • Oversee quality control processes to meet industry standards (e.g., ASME, API, AWWA) and client specifications, ensuring all products meet rigorous performance and reliability requirements.
  • Production Optimization :

  • Develop and implement strategies to enhance production efficiency, reduce waste, and optimize resource utilization while maintaining high standards of craftsmanship.
  • Budget and Cost Management :

  • Manage plant budgets, monitor expenses, and implement cost-saving initiatives without compromising quality or safety.
  • Equipment and Facility Oversight :

  • Ensure proper maintenance, repair, and upgrading of fabrication equipment (e.g., CNC machines, welding systems) and facility infrastructure to support uninterrupted operations.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration :

  • Work closely with engineering, procurement, and construction teams to align plant operations with project requirements, schedules, and client expectations.
  • Inventory and Supply Chain :

  • Coordinate with procurement teams to manage raw material inventory, vendor relationships, and supply chain logistics to support production needs.
  • Performance Reporting :

  • Track and report key performance indicators (KPIs) related to production, quality, safety, and financial metrics, providing regular updates to senior leadership.
  • Qualifications Experience :

  • 10+ years of experience in manufacturing or metal fabrication, with at least 5 years in a plant management or senior leadership role overseeing a workforce of similar size (50+ employees).
  • Technical Knowledge :

  • Strong understanding of metal fabrication processes, including welding, cutting, forming, and assembly, with experience in producing tanks, vessels, or structural components.
  • Industry Standards :

  • In-depth knowledge of relevant standards (e.g., ASME, API, AWWA) and experience managing large-scale industrial projects.
  • Leadership Skills :

  • Proven ability to lead and motivate a diverse workforce, manage conflict, and drive performance in a high-pressure, deadline-driven environment.
  • Safety Expertise :

  • Strong commitment to safety, with certifications such as OSHA 30 or equivalent preferred.
  • Financial Acumen :

  • Experience managing budgets, controlling costs, and driving operational efficiencies.
  • Communication :

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams, engage with stakeholders, and present reports to senior management.
  • Education :

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, industrial management, business administration, or a related field preferred; equivalent experience in manufacturing leadership will be considered.
  • Preferred Skills Experience with lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, or other process improvement methodologies.
  • Proficiency in ERP systems or production management software.
  • Knowledge of supply chain management and vendor negotiations.
  • Familiarity with advanced fabrication technologies, such as automated welding or CNC programming.
  • Contract-to-Hire Details Contract Duration :

  • Initial 6-month contract with the potential for conversion to a permanent role based on performance and business needs.
  • Evaluation :

  • Performance will be assessed based on operational efficiency, team leadership, safety compliance, and project delivery outcomes.
