Team Overview and Job Responsibilities :

What you'll do :

  • Candidate will be an employee of the Automation group supporting the manufacturing of optical fiber.
  • This individual will provide technical support in the area of PC and PLC based controls and automation for improvement projects and production support.

Principle Functional Responsibilities :

  • Develop and maintain PLC programs utilized by production and facilities to control manufacturing processes and support equipment.
  • Provide controls and automation support for the manufacturing of optical fiber, including off-hours support on a rotating basis.
  • Work with the technical staff to resolve daily production issues.
  • Support the commissioning of new equipment for production.
  • Ensure proper backups of all programs and critical support files are maintained per plant standards.
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor or a member of management.

    Qualifications :

  • B.S. in Engineering or Computer Science
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Detail and quality oriented
  • Ability to contribute to the team’s culture of continuous process changes / improvements
  • Ability to work with little supervision
  • Comply with all applicable safety procedures and ISO 45001 / ISO 14001 HSE guidelines

    • Preferred :

  • Experience in fiber optic or other highly automated manufacturing process
  • Experience with programming Rockwell (Allen-Bradley), Modicon, and / or Siemens PLC’s
  • Experience in PLC programming utilizing IEC programming languages including Ladder, Sequential function charts, Structured text, and Function Block Diagrams
  • Experience with Profibus, Ethernet and Modbus+ communication protocols
  • Experience in programming SCADA Software with PC to PLC transactions and PC to Database transactions
  • Experience in programming servo drives and motion controllers
