Courier Position
Under general supervision, couriers are responsible for picking up and transporting specimens, reports, and supplies following a designated route.
Core functions include providing clients with consistent and high-quality service through effective communication, picking up specimens, delivering lab results, and supplies, and organizing reports and supply deliveries to meet client expectations.
Couriers must operate the company vehicle, conduct daily vehicle inspections, and ensure safe and defensive operation by utilizing the principles of Smith System. Additionally, they must accurately record routine and will call client stops, specimen counts, and types using a mobile data terminal, and strive for zero missed specimen pick-ups.
Couriers communicate with dispatch by radio or telephone on all service-related issues and train new couriers on routes.
Physical demands include standing, climbing, stooping, and bending frequently; positions require considerable physical activity. Couriers must tolerate exposure to toxic chemicals, bio-hazardous materials, dirt, dust, fumes, smoke, heights, high temperatures, or confined spaces. They must lift up to 25 pounds and use proper body mechanics to lift supplies and equipment and push carts and dollies weighing up to 500 lbs. Adequate color vision is required, and protective clothing must be worn as needed. Some positions require driving to various locations.
Minimum qualifications include a valid Arizona driver's license, being 18 years of age, and the ability to understand and follow instructions.
Preferred qualifications include additional related education and / or experience.
