Level I Pediatric Trauma CenterPatient population : Neonates – 25 yearsHigh volume : 116,000+ annual visits; winter surge 400+ per dayFast-paced environment ; never diverts patients3–5 triage areas + fast track for high throughputED tech support : 1 tech per nurse + additional in triageNurses run codes internally (no separate code team)Shift details : 12-hour shifts (07 : 00–19 : 30 / 19 : 00–07 : 30)Scheduling : Block scheduling; weekend shifts required (varies)Float required ; call may be requiredRequired
Certifications : BLS, PALS, ACLS, NRP, CPI / MAB (as applicable)Experience : Minimum 2 years Emergency Department nursingTrauma : Must have prior ED / trauma exposureDocumentation : Electronic charting competencyPreferred

Common diagnoses : Trauma, respiratory failure, seizures, shock, burns, psychiatric crises, meningitis, GI bleeds, OB / GYN emergencies, etc.Support services : Pharmacy, Radiology, Respiratory Therapy, Phlebotomy, Rapid Response, Social Services, Child Life, Transportation, Physical TherapySystems : Pyxis (meds), SBAR (communication), electronic documentationPatient ratio : Based on acuity (high turnover, high activity)Other Information
