Job Description Daily Responsibilities for a Neonatologist The Neonatologist is responsible for : Evaluating and treating patients with appropriate medical diagnostic and treatment skills. Adhering, contributing, and developing clinical patient pathways to ensure a standardized approach to neonatal medicine. Rounding with a Neonatal Advanced Practice Provider (APP) on NICU patients, as well as supervising the APP s attending high risk deliveries. Recommends, participates in, and works to ensure the success of efforts to improve cost effectiveness and quality of care provided to patients. Act as attending consulting physician for patients who require hospitalization, depending on needs of patients, medical staff, and hospital. Be the primary educator for the pediatric residents. Providing appropriate documentation that meets insurance company requirements; appeal all denials in a timely manner. Participating in inpatient rounds and provide appropriate hand-off to the next team. Establishing an outpatient NICU graduate clinic program.
