Classroom Teacher

Under the general supervision of the School Principal, to facilitate student success and growth in academic and interpersonal skills through implementing district approved curriculum; documenting teaching and student progress / activities / outcomes; addressing specific educational needs of individual students and by creating a flexible, safe and optimal learning environment; and providing feedback to students, parents and administration regarding student progress, expectations, goals, etc.

SALARY : Commensurate with certification and experience based on the Wicomico County Salary Scale for Teachers.

Hours : Full time 10-month position (190 contract days).

Contract Unit : This position is part of the Unit I (Certificated) bargaining unit.

FLSA : Exempt

Qualifications

• Eligibility for the Maryland State Department of Education teaching certificate with the proper endorsement. IMPORTANT NOTE for Out-of-State Applicants : Out-of-state applicants can request a Professional Eligibility Certificate (PEC) if they hold a valid out-of-state certificate.
• Knowledge of subject matter and appropriate instructional methodologies.
• Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing using the English language when deemed necessary.
• Exemplary organizational and planning skills.
• Demonstrated leadership and personal qualities necessary to work effectively with students, parents, and administrators.
