Location and Work

This position is located at our Ohio office near Cleveland, OH, and is a hybrid position. The ability to work in our office, with a hybrid schedule, is required. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required.

About the Position and Our Team

The Assistant Controller is responsible for directing the company’s domestic financial policies. Oversees all US controlling functions including accounting entries, month-end close, procurement, accounts payable, billing, collections, and treasury. Provides support and recommendations to senior leadership and uses extensive experience and knowledge to plan and accomplish strategic financial goals. Ensure integrity and accuracy of financial operations, safeguarding company’s assets and developing efficient business processes.

Responsibilities

  • Lead staff of five (5) to include interviewing, hiring, training, coaching, and reviewing.
  • Preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
  • Design, implement, adhere to, and improve upon policies and procedures that result in financial reporting accuracy, timeliness, and compliance for a dynamic and growing company.
  • Completion and ownership of month-end close procedures, journal entries, and deadlines.
  • Reconciliation of subledger to general ledger for balance sheet accounts.
  • Support cash forecasting, analysis, and treasury functions for the business.
  • Lead the relationship with external public accounting firm that oversees annual audit and annual pass-through entity tax returns.
  • Complete monthly analytics and analysis based on actual results compared to budgets and forecasts.
  • Sales tax ownership.
  • Preparation of quarterly partner distributions
  • Oversee year-end tax information reporting (1099s).

  • Qualifications and Skills Required

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field.
  • Active CPA license is preferred.
  • 5-10 years of audit or similar accounting experience.
  • Experience with all components of financial controls for private company.
  • Strong knowledge of US GAAP.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Sage Intacct, or related financial systems.
  • Working knowledge of financial strategies.
  • Strong organizational and multitasking skills.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
  • Detail-oriented and able to perform in a high-pressure environment.
  • Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to complete work independently and accurately.
