SouthCoast Seeks For A Full-Time Cardiac Scheduling Coordinator For Our Cardiology Department
Position Summary :
Responsible for making and scheduling diagnostic appointments in an efficient and timely manner. Verifies insurance eligibility and benefits. Assist in identifying problems and ensures that the insurance is accurate on the patient account. Assures insurance information and appropriate referrals have been completely and accurately obtained.
Qualifications :
- Ability to communicate clearly and speak concisely.
- Ability to exercise professionalism in dealing with all levels of personnel, patients, and patients' families.
- Ability in using multi-line telephone system.
- Knowledge of proper telephone etiquette.
- Knowledge of customer service principles.
Responsibilities :
Verifies insurance policy benefit information and obtains Authorization / Precertification, prior to the patient’s visit.Assures all insurance information has been completely and accurately obtained. Documents all pertinent insurance information. Documents information given or received to support actions taken on insurance charges or referral issues.Coding – understanding CPT and ICD10 to schedule appropriate test and payable diagnosis codesAppeal denials if the insurance company denies the precertification by giving addition clinical information as needed.Coordinate with hospital on scheduling STAT imaging studies, providing demographics, office notes, etc.Patient calls and concerns – manage in-person and phones encountersEducates patients and families on insurance issues. Communicates patient’s fiscal responsibility in a professional manner.Notifies appropriate work units of patient’s insurance coverage, authorizations, or status.Identifies all patients without third party financial benefits and directs them for financial counseling according to SCMG self-pay policies and proceduresVerifies necessary patient information and updates patient profile in the EHR computer.Answers questions regarding patient procedure billing and costSchedules diagnostic appointment in EHR and Meditech . Relays necessary messages to staff.Complete an outgoing referral in EHR.Ensure patient is aware of instructions for test, any prep that is required, directions, patient regarding holding medications and meals, attire for treadmill, body lotions, etc.Answers telephones, screens calls, and provides general information.Answers questions regarding patient appointments and schedules outpatient appointments.Ensures that updates (cancellations or additions) are input daily into master schedule and provider or nurse are notified, if appropriate.Education / Experience : High School Diploma. At least one year work experience in a medical office / imaging department setting. Prior switchboard operations experience preferred. Knowledge of medical terminology desired. Word processing and computer experience.
