Elevanta , an Atlanta-area AMCI-accredited association management company, manages several franchisee associations made up of franchise owners from multiple national brands (Burger King, Buffalo Wild Wings, Zaxby’s, Meineke, Supercuts and more). This individual will be responsible for the publications division of our communications department with the writing, editing and proofing of various client communications including our publications, directories, as well as marketing and media relations for our unique association clients. The desired candidate is someone who likes variety and diversity in their day. No two days are the same, and the position has exposure into many areas of the company’s niches. Excellent written and oral communication skills, with a particular emphasis on the ability to write concisely and clearly for a variety of audiences and vehicles with a minimum of editing, are a must in this position.
Job Duties
- Oversee development of print and electronic communications, which includes a minimum of 15 publication annually.
- Establish story budgets for all publications along with timelines to meet production requirements
- Coordinate design and layout of each publication with designer
- Manage printing process
- Coordinate with vendor sales to ensure proper advertisement placement
- Ghost writer for association leaders as needed
- Responsible for writing feature stories, member news, and significant amount of additional content for publications
- Conduct interviews with members and other sources to develop stories for each publication.
- Pitch issue features to association leaders and communications department leader
- Provide art direction to designer
- Edit and review all event, print, and electronic materials produced within the communications department
- Edit staff communications for content, consistency with branding, style, etc.
- Develop marketing emails requesting member and advertisor submissions for publications
- Draft various association communications to include press releases, flyer, prospectus, etc.
- Ensure deadlines are met relative to various publications
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Public Relations, Communications or related field preferred.Five-plus years of experience in one or more of the following : magazine publishing, public relations, advertising, marketing and associations, website management.Proficient proofreading and copy-editing skills with practical knowledge of AP Style.Excellent communications skills, including in-person, phone and written.Detail oriented, organized and deadline driven with ability to prioritize and work on multiple projects at once.Technically savvy with experience in word processing, desktop publishing, Word Press and Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint).Experience with trade associations and / or print publication production is a plus.Adobe software experience (Photoshop and InDesign) preferred.Ability to build strong relationships with volunteer leaders as well as motivate teamsExperience in publication management requiredOutstanding project management skills that demonstrate the ability to deliver communications and publication initiatives on time and within budgetAbility to travelSeniority level
