POSITION SUMMARY : Utilizing the nursing process, provides high quality direct and indirect patient care.# Coordinates patient care by working collaboratively with the interdisciplinary team.# Communicates, as appropriate, the patient clinical condition, responding quickly and accurately to changes in condition or response to treatment.# Demonstrates knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span and the skills necessary to provide age appropriate care to the patient population served.# Promotes the profession of nursing and professional practice through collegial support and interactions. Reports to the Clinical Nurse Manager. EDUCATION / CERTIFICATION Must be a graduate of an accredited school of Nursing and have and maintain current a Registered Nurse license in the State of Connecticut. Must have certification in Basic Cardiac Life Support and Advanced Cardiac Life Support upon hire or receive certification within the new employee introductory orientation period and maintain clinical competency during employment with ECHN in this role. Critical care experience preferred. COMPETENCIES : Must be able to communicate effectively using the English language, both verbally and in writing. Documents the nursing process and responses to care in a timely manner utilizing the appropriate tools. Demonstrates ability to assist physicians with procedures in the peri anesthesia care setting, including cardio-version and insertion of peripheral and central monitoring lines, and epidural catheter placement. Demonstrates knowledge of airway management and the ability to use appropriate equipment Demonstrates ability to assess cardio-respiratory systems for changes and provides appropriate treatment. Demonstrates knowledge of anesthetic drugs, actions and side effects. Provides an accurate and pertinent report of the patient condition for safe transfer of care.
