Overview

ERM is seeking a Principal Technical Consultant, Visual Simulations Expert (3D Visualizations) to join our Visual Services team. Location : flexible (anywhere in the U.S.) and can be 100% remote. The candidate will support clients and projects across electric transmission, renewables, and extractive industries, delivering technically defensible 3D visualizations, VR 360 simulations, and interactive 3D environments. The role emphasizes cutting-edge visualization technology and innovation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Contribute to preparation of technically defensible 3D models, renderings, photomontages, visual simulations, and animations for regulatory, licensing, and public outreach for a wide range of projects.
  • Work with cutting-edge hardware and software to develop innovative approaches to communicating complex civil designs to the public.

Required Qualifications

  • 8+ years of work experience in related field, including at least 3+ years in the AEC field, with experience in 3D visualizations, 3D modeling, and 3D simulation.
  • Autodesk 3D Studio Max proficiency (modelling, texturing, lighting, basic animation).
  • Chaos V-Ray (especially real-time GPU rendering).
  • Photoshop and InDesign abilities.
  • Ability to meet tight project deadlines as an individual and as a team member.
  • Passion for innovation in the 3D sector and willingness to advance the quality of work.
  • Candidates must be able to demo samples of their work (via website, Google Drive, link, etc.).

    • Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience translating data from various software and coordinate systems (including lidar / point cloud data).
  • Experience with software : Autodesk Civil 3D, ArcGIS and / or Global Mapper, Forest Pack Pro and Rail Clone or similar scattering / optimization plugins, Google Earth Pro, Adobe Suite (Premiere, After Effects, Illustrator), Blender, Chaos Vantage.
  • Supplementary experience in planning and / or graphic design.
  • DSLR photography experience, especially with panoramic head mounts.

    • Compensation and Benefits

    Annual base pay range : $120,000 – $143,951 USD. Pay placement within this range depends on factors including education, qualifications, experience, location, performance, and business needs. Bonus eligibility : may be eligible for bonus pay; casual and fixed term / flex force employees are NOT bonus eligible. Benefits include paid time off, paid parental leave, medical, dental, vision, life, disability and AD&D insurance, 401(k) or RRSP / DPSP, and other applicable benefits.
