Job Description
Job Description
Position Summary :
Phoenix Seminary is now accepting applications for a full-time, residential faculty position in Public Theology and Cultural Engagement. The position is open rank and the specific job title is amenable to further modification depending upon the particular strengths and academic background of the successful applicant. This position can begin at any time according to the candidate’s availability, including the 2025-26 academic year.
This is a new position in the area of public theology and cultural engagement broadly conceived. We are seeking a scholar grounded in a traditional academic discipline (e.g. history, systematic theology, philosophy, etc.) who applies said discipline more broadly to the life of the church and the public sphere, and is committed to equipping students for ministry in a twenty-first-century context.
We are especially interested in someone who could help equip pastors and ministry workers to navigate and minister well within the multicultural, pluralistic, de-Christianizing context in which we live. This person would focus on exegeting the culture within which we minister, a goal which would include and be applicable to foreign mission work, but would be rooted in the task of presenting a faithful and faithfully contextualized Christian message in the rapidly secularizing west.
The successful appointee will teach courses, mentor students, engage in scholarly research and writing, and participate in the wider life of the Seminary. Rank and compensation will be commensurate with experience.
Application review will begin immediately and continue Friday October 17th, 2025
