Senior Project Estimator – Electrical The primary responsibility of this position is to prepare and manage complete, accurate estimates for projects up to $25 million, ensuring competitive pricing, compliance with contract requirements, and alignment with the client’s strategic goals. Key Responsibilities Estimating & Analysis
- Prepare complete, detailed estimates for large and highly complex projects, including bids exceeding $25M.
- Apply deep trade expertise to develop accurate unit costs, man-hour figures, and productivity assumptions.
- Review drawings, specifications, and addenda to determine the complete project scope.
- Develop conceptual estimates and budgets to support clients in early project stages.
- Provide high-level value engineering recommendations to optimize project cost and design.
- Ensure all known risks are accurately accounted for to protect profitability. Business Development & Client Relationships
- Leverage existing industry relationships to identify and secure new business opportunities.
- Expand the client base through professional networking and market outreach.
- Partner with business development teams to support strategic growth initiatives.
- Serve as a trusted advisor to clients by providing accurate cost and feasibility data. Bid Management & Leadership
- Lead the estimating process independently with minimal oversight.
- Manage multiple concurrent bids with accuracy and attention to deadlines.
- Conduct job walks and site visits to support scope development.
- Mentor and support junior estimators by sharing technical expertise and best practices.
- Conduct comprehensive project turnovers to Operations to ensure seamless execution. Documentation & Risk Control
- Draft, issue, and track RFIs as needed for complex bid packages.
- Maintain organized records of all estimates, correspondence, and supporting documents.
- Ensure compliance with internal file structures and the client's standards. Skills, Knowledge, and Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, or equivalent professional experience.
- Minimum 8–12 years of progressive estimating experience in the electrical construction industry.
- Proven ability to bid and win projects up to $25 million.
- Strong industry relationships with clients, vendors, and subcontractors.
- Proficiency in Trimble Accubid, Trimble LiveCount (on-screen takeoff), Procore, Pantera, Bluebeam Revu, and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong leadership, communication, and negotiation skills.
- Ability to work independently while managing multiple high-value estimates under tight deadlines.
