Job Summary
Delivers the Centinel vision to create thriving communities by operating incident- and injury-free workplaces. Compliance with Centinel Essential Controls (CEC) as well as all national and local legislation and codes is paramount as this role seeks to influence project staff and supply chain to deliver best practices in meeting all standards. The role spends roughly 80% of time on the construction and development site with the reminder in an office environment.
Responsibilities & Duties
The following statements summarize the general nature and level of work performed by employees in this role. It is not an exhaustive list.
- Maintains a robust understanding of safety requirements for all aspects of the site, including pre-planning, monitoring of construction activities and site conditions, and taking corrective actions to non-compliant work. Working daily with the trades and subcontractors to teach, remind and drive home the Centinel EHS initiatives.
- May instruct, coach and / or direct the day-to-day activities / assignments of others without management responsibility for Centinel employees.
- Executes project EHS plans and ensures project governance and controls are in place.
- Builds EHS technical capability in others and encourages them to take responsibility for their technical development.
- Applies advanced knowledge to provide guidance and support to resolve difficult technical challenges.
- Ensures that project learnings and innovations are captured and shared within the operating business unit to develop future capability and improve best practices.
- Keeps abreast of best practices and local requirements to better identify project safety needs and propose robust solutions.
- Understands and educates others about how to apply Centinel Essential Controls, protocols and technologies.
- Drives compliance management within all relevant reporting and accreditation systems across the project.
- Guides project team members to follow procedures and provides consistent and reliable reporting information.
- Applies correct EHS operating procedures, regulations and policies throughout the lifecycle of the project.
- Provides timely feedback to team members and EHS leads on the identification of critical risks to EHS delivery.
- Implements EHS corrective action programs for at-risk work.
- Manages risks to delivery, shifting performance and delivery expectations accordingly.
- Identifies common themes in poor EHS-related performance and initiates solutions to correct and share trends with BU EHS Director.
- Has a solid understanding of the skills and expertise of the broader team and harnesses these to achieve compliant EHS outcomes.
- Collaborates with stakeholders to assure compliant EHS outcomes across the project.
- Understands the impact of EHS issues to the overall project plan.
Background and Requirements
4-year degree in an accredited industry-related curriculum, or experience equivalent to a 4-year degree.3 – 5 years of experience in an EHS role, or at least 8 years of construction-related experience.Competent user of office applications such as MS Office365 and construction scheduling programs.Ability to safely navigate conditions present at a construction site, including climbing ladders, cluttered areas, working in bad weather, hazardous areas, dark conditions, and maneuvering uneven surfaces for the purpose of inspecting progress.Ready to Apply?
