TekPro is partnering on a search for a hands-on leader to own final assembly, test / debug, installations, service, and acceptance support for custom automation equipment near Elgin, Illinois. Expect up to 20% domestic and international travel.

Our client is a 100% employee-owned manufacturer of high-speed automation assembly and test systems serving life science, personal care, and food & beverage. You’ll be central to customer confidence—running sample trials, hosting demos, educating technicians, and signing off on final quality before shipment.
What you’ll do
- Perform end-to-end electrical and mechanical checks; analyze part handling / control, machine functions, and operations against specification.
- Collaborate with engineering and manufacturing on upgrades and configurations; document field fixes and issues for continuous improvement.
- Test customer-supplied products to validate equipment compatibility and determine optimal configuration.
- Own final quality and performance testing of machinery prior to shipment.
- Install equipment, deliver service, and resolve warranty claims promptly through direct customer / representative interaction.
- Engage with customers during factory and site acceptance, providing support and guidance.
Your background
3+ years building and debugging automated machinery.3+ years as a service technician or lead machine builder in automation.Associate’s degree or technical certificate, or equivalent hands-on experience.Strong AC / DC fundamentals.Fluent reading of detailed 3D mechanical drawings, electrical schematics, and pneumatic diagrams.Capable with machine shop tools : drill press, mill, grinder.PLC literacy is a plus (read ladder logic; basic edits).Experienced with hand tools and measurement devices (calipers, micrometers, scales, gauges).Core proficiencies
