Description :

The position requires an experienced Emergency Room Registered Nurse.

The Emergency Department consists of 12 rooms and 2 trauma bays.

There is a Fast Track area with 5 urgent care rooms.

Traveling nurses will receive orientation.

A separate triage area is available, but patients may be pulled directly to rooms if the chief complaint is clear.

Travelers are expected to triage and must pass a triage test according to guidelines.

The Emergency Department has mixed holding areas with both emergency and urgent care patients.

There is one designated psych room with special security features.

Security personnel are present during specified hours throughout the week and 24 hours on weekends.

The department treats an average of 60-80 patients per day, including urgent care cases.

Nurse to patient ratios are typically 1 : 4, with fewer patients assigned for critical cases.

Required certifications include BLS, ACLS, PALS, and TNCC.

Common diagnoses include abdominal pain, chest pain, shortness of breath, psychiatric care, and pediatric issues.

Common drips administered include Heparin, sedation medications, and pressors.

The Emergency Department is staffed by various healthcare providers throughout the day and night.

There is a charge nurse on duty 24 / 7 who does not take patient assignments.

Nurse techs and paramedics assist in patient care, and the paramedic can handle a patient load under RN supervision.

Respiratory therapists are available 24 / 7 to perform necessary procedures.

RNs are responsible for reading their own cardiac strips without monitor tech assistance.

X-ray and CT technicians are onsite 24 / 7, and portable machines are available for bedside use.

Phlebotomy services are in-house 24 / 7; however, RNs can draw labs when necessary for patient satisfaction.

Shifts include coverage from early morning to late night, with a mix of RNs and support staff.

Weekend work is required for 2 weekends each month, with holiday coverage expected if needed.

There is no call requirement for this position.

No floating to other departments is expected.

No specific scrub color is mandated; professional scrubs are acceptable.

A short departmental orientation is provided, along with training on the electronic health record system as needed.
